Week Three

Grace-Filled Works

Main Idea —

We are not saved by our good works, but we are saved for good works — works that flow from a life transformed by the grace of God, marked by gentleness, hospitality, and a new way of living as God’s people in the world.

The grace of God not only saves us but transforms us into a people marked by good works, gentleness, and hospitality. Our works are not a way to earn God’s favor but a response to His grace.

Key Themes —

  • The Trinity's saving work.

  • Grace vs striving.

  • Good works and Christian witness.

  • Gentleness and hospitality.

Opening Questions —

  • What is one good deed someone did for you recently that made an impact?

  • Have you ever tried to "do good" but felt burnt out or unmotivated? What do you think was driving you?

Read Together —

Titus 2:9-3:8

Discussion & Reflection —

1. God’s Grace Trains Us

  • According to verses Titus 2:11–12, what does grace teach us to say “no” and “yes” to?

  • How is grace different from moralism or performance-driven religion?

  • Have you experienced a time where God’s grace changed the way you lived — not out of duty but desire?

  • How does grace empower us to live differently?

2. A New Humanity (Titus 3:1–2)

  • What kind of people is Paul calling believers to be? (e.g. obedient, gentle, peaceable, humble)

  • What are the marks of a grace-transformed life?

  • Why do these traits matter in our witness to the world?

  • Which of these traits do you find hardest? Why?

3. The Power Behind It All (Titus 3:4–7)

  • Paul describes God's kindness, mercy, and the renewing work of the Holy Spirit. How does this shape our motivation for doing good?

  • Why is it important to root our good works in God’s grace rather than our efforts?

  • How do we balance grace and the call to good works?

4. Grace-Filled Mission (Titus 3:8)

  • Paul says believers should be “devoted to good works.” What might that look like in your daily life, family, or workplace?

  • How does gentleness, hospitality, and humility distinguish Christian service from mere volunteering?

  • What are practical ways we can be a people ‘ready for every good work’?

Prayer & Ministry —

  • Invite the group to pause and reflect on any areas of striving or burnout.

  • Ask God to renew motivation rooted in grace, not performance.

  • Thank God for His grace. Ask Him to show you how to live it out in joyful service.

  • Pray that your group and church would be marked by grace-filled action, hospitality, and humility.

Application / Takeaway —

  • This week, ask the Holy Spirit to show you one act of good work to do — something simple, grace-fueled, and Spirit-led.

  • Consider hosting someone, blessing a colleague, or helping a stranger — not to be seen, but to reflect God’s heart.

  • Share testimonies next week about how God met you in that act.
