The Life Of A Disciple
Hearing The Voice Of God
The Primacy Of Hearing God
For LifeGroup Discussion
Main Theme:
Hearing God is not just for the spiritual elite — it is foundational for every believer. God is a relational God who calls His people to hear His voice and walk in step with Him. Explore the primacy of hearing God’s voice, the cost of spiritual deafness, and how cultivating a listening posture shapes our walk as a disciple.
Icebreaker Question:
What is one moment in your life when you really needed to hear God?
Read Together:
John 10:27, Matthew 4:4, Isaiah 55:3, Hebrews 5:14.
Discussion Questions:
What do these verses say about identity and intimacy in hearing God?
What is the relationship between hearing and following?
Why is it important to train our spiritual senses? What does that practically look like?
What are the consequences of living a Christian life without cultivating the posture of listening to God?
Prayer & Response:
Hearing God often begins with hunger. If you desire to hear Him more, He is more than willing to meet you in that place.
Invite each person to pray: “Lord, I want to know Your voice. Help me tune my heart to You.”
Optionally, break into pairs and pray for each other, especially for renewed hunger and the removal of hindrances.

Practical Tips —
Set a regular place and time.
Start with Scripture, then wait and listen.
Ask God open-ended questions (e.g., “What do You want me to know today?”).
Practice stillness without rushing.
Abstain from media for 1 day to declutter your attention and tune in.
