The Life Of A Disciple

Introduction Week: Where Am I On My Discipleship Journey?

Main Theme:

Biblical discipleship is the normal Christian life. In Acts, we see that even those who served tables, like Stephen and Philip, were described as full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom. Discipleship is not reserved for the “super spiritual,” but is the expected lifestyle of every believer. Where are we on the discipleship journey?

Icebreaker Question:

What is something you once thought was radical that you now realise is part of every disciple’s life?

Discussion Questions:

Personal Reflection —

  • What surprised you about your own results?

  • Are there any results you initially disagreed with? What made you stop and think?

  • Which part of the survey made you reflect most deeply — and why?

  • Which area in your survey results do you feel reflects a strength in your walk with God? How did that area grow in your life?

Gaining Perspective —

  • Did anything in the group sharing surprise or encourage you?

  • What common patterns or themes are you noticing across the group’s results?

  • How do these survey results reflect the culture of discipleship in our church? What is encouraging? What is missing?

Growth & Application —

  • Where do you think God is nudging you to grow next?

  • What specific step can you take this week to grow in one of your weaker areas?

  • How can the life group help support one another in growing as disciples — not just individually, but together?

  • Who could you walk alongside to help them grow in an area you are stronger in?

  • What would it look like for your life to reflect the “Acts standard” of discipleship — even in the ordinary or unnoticed parts?

Prayer & Response:

  • Take a moment of silence. Ask: “Holy Spirit, what’s one area You want me to take a step forward in?”

  • Share one practical next step you want to take in your discipleship this week. (e.g. consistent quiet time, praying for someone, stepping into service, simplifying life, seeking accountability).

Pair up or pray as a group. Pray for:

  • Boldness to pursue biblical discipleship, not cultural comfort.

  • A fresh infilling of the Spirit like Stephen and Philip.
