STAFF SERVICE CHAIR
COMMUNICATIONS SCRIPT // SUNDAY SERVICE
22 MARCH 2026

1st WELCOME

(Come in front as the video countdowns to 0 at 10am.)

  • Hi, church! Welcome to Sunday service! We are so glad to see you this morning.

  • If you are still outside, please come on in as we start the service.

CALL TO WORSHIP

  • Let us all stand as we prepare our hearts to worship.

  • (Short exhortation from Bible reading plan for the week.)

  • This week we read about the story of Joshua as he took leadership from Moses to lead the children of Israel into the promise land.

  • As we come into worship, let’s anchor ourselves in God’s word to Joshua: “Be strong and courageous… for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:6–9)

  • That promise carries through the whole story.

  • When they moved in faith, they crossed over the Jordan.

  • When thy followed God’s instructions and obeyed Him, the Jericho walls came down.

  • And even when they failed at Ai because of hidden sin and overconfidence, God did not abandon them. He called them back and restored them.

  • Time and time again, we see God fulfilled what He had promised.

  • He is faithful even when we are not.

  • So as we worship today, we don’t come striving. We come trusting:

  • God is with us.

  • He responds to simple obedience.

  • And He remains faithful to His promises.

  • Let us fix our eyes on Him and worship with confidence that He is present, and He is faithful.

  • LET US WORSHIP! (This is the cue for worship team to take over.)

(Be mindful to hand over to worship team by 10.05am.)

TRANSITION
(After Worship)

  • Take over at 10.40am. Close Worship time. Church to be seated.

  • (If P6s and Youths start leaving for their classes.) We bless our P6s / youths as they go for their classes!

2nd WELCOME

  • Welcome to Sunday service! I am (insert your name), one of the pastors / staff at The City.

  • If you are watching online, thank you for joining us. We hope to see you at our service soon.

    Newcomers:

  • We also want to welcome you if you are visiting for the first time. We are so thankful you are here. (“Give us a wave / raise your hands” — this is to acknowledge them.)

  • There is a QR code on screen that you can scan to find out more about our church and who we are.

  • After service, we invite you to join us at the Welcome Hub just outside the hall. We have coffee, a small gift for you, and it is an opportunity for you to meet someone and ask questions.

  • You can also fill in a Connect Card and pass it to a host at the Welcome Hub or to one of our pastors at the front. If you did not receive one, you can head to the Welcome Hub to get one too.

  • We would love to meet you and help you get connected with communities and events happening in church. We hope to see you at the Welcome Hub after service!

ANNOUNCEMENTS

We have some upcoming events and I would like to highlight a couple of them.

SEEK FIRST: 2-DAY PRAYER CHARGE — 27 - 29 MARCH

  • Each year, we set aside two days for unbroken prayer and intercession. It is sacred time for us to slow down and seek the Lord together. In these hours of prayer, we ask God to align our hearts with His, to listen for His leading, and to entrust our church afresh to His purposes.

  • We will end our Prayer Charge on Sunday (29th) with an anointing service.

  • This year, we will be praying through these three themes:

    1) Encounter
    2) Formation
    3) Mission

  • Sign up for a 1-hour slot to pray and intercede. Take up a slot as a family or LifeGroup too!

INSIDE THE CITY LUNCH — 12 APRIL

  • If you are new here and have been visiting, Inside The City lunch is for you!

  • This is where you can find out more about the church, ask questions, and meet our staff team and fellow newcomers.

  • RSVP to confirm your attendance.

PARENTS GATHERING — AFTER SERVICE, 12.30PM

  • A reminder that the Parents Gathering is taking place right after service.

  • If you have registered, your children will be served lunch at the Aquatics room where they will be cared for for the duration of the gathering.

  • The lunch bentos for the adults will be available outside MPH for collection.

  • If you want to join the gathering but did not register, you can still join in. You just have to order your own lunch for your family.

— ANNOUNCEMENTS WRAP UP —

  • More information on these and other events can be found at www.thecity.sg/events, or subscribe to our Telegram channel for the latest news.

GIVING

  • We will now transition to a time of giving.

  • To give, you can open your banking app to scan the QR Code on the screen.

  • Please stand as we pray this liturgy together as a way to posture our hearts in giving and to renew our dependence on God.

         (Read liturgy below).

Father, we come before You with grateful hearts. You have welcomed us in through Your Son and given us every good gift.

All that we have belongs to You, and out of Your abundance we freely give today. Free us from the burden of endless accumulation, and teach us to unclench our fists from what we cannot keep.

Help us to be faithful stewards who give cheerfully — not from obligation, but with open hearts that love You and serve others.

Father, receive these gifts and use them for Your Kingdom and Your name’s sake. AMEN.

  • Please be seated. The QR Code will be on the screen for a while more.

PASSING THE PEACE

  • We used to take 60 seconds simply to greet one another, but we want to go beyond a polite “hello” or a handshake.

  • We want to welcome one another as members of God’s family.

  • Jesus said, "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you."

  • When we pass the peace, we are not merely exchanging pleasantries. We are declaring that we belong to Christ and that, in Him, we belong to one another.

  • Let us read these words together:

  • Chair: "The peace of the Lord be with you always."

  • Congregation: "And also with you."

  • Now, let us take a moment to greet someone — perhaps someone new, or someone you have not spoken with in a while — and pass the peace of Christ to one another.

SCRIPTURE READER & TRANSITION

  • (Introduce Speaker and/or ongoing series.)

  • Before (insert name) comes to speak, let us welcome our Scripture Reader for the week.

  • (Ensure to handover to Scripture Reader by 10.55am latest.)

RESPONSE & MINISTRY
(When Speaker is not closing)

  • (Take over after worship response.)

  • As we remain in this posture of worship, we want to respond to what God is saying to us and for each other.

  • (a) The Ministry Team will also be available on my right to pray with you on specific prayer requests.

  • (b) These are some words of knowledge we received (if any); please come up to the Ministry Team for prayer if you resonate with any of the words.

  • (c) Let us all also look for someone to share and pray with. Let no one leave church without being prayed for.

  • Let me pronounce a blessing over you before we minister to one another.

Option 1:
Numbers 6:24–26

May the Lord bless you and keep you.
May the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you.
May the Lord turn His face toward you and give you peace. Amen.”

Option 2:
Ephesians 3:20–21

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine,
according to His power that is at work within us,
to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus
throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”

Option 3:
2 Corinthians 13:14

And now may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ,
the love of God our Father,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit
be with you all, today and always. Amen.”
