Welcome To Holy Spirit Sunday

As we gather today for extended worship and prayer, let us pause and prepare our hearts. We do not want to rush through the service or fill the space with words. It is about making room for God to speak. Jesus said, “My sheep hear My voice” (John 10:27). As disciples, our greatest privilege is not only to worship Him but to hear His heart and walk in step with His Spirit. This is a holy moment: as we worship, pray, and wait on Him, God desires to speak personally to you and corporately to us as a church. Let us posture ourselves with expectation. He is here, and He wants to be heard.

1.   Quiet Your Heart

Take a few moments to lay aside distractions, worries, and busyness. Enter into stillness before the Lord. Silence the noise within so that His voice can rise above every other sound.

  • Set aside the distractions of the week, your worries, and even your own expectations.

  • Pray: “Speak, Lord, for Your servant is listening” (1 Samuel 3:10).

2.   Remember Why We Hear God

Hearing God is about relationship. As you prepare your heart remember His voice is a voice of love, remind yourself: “I hear because I am His child, and He longs to draw me closer.”

  • Hearing God is central to being a disciple. We follow Jesus by listening to His voice.

  • God still speaks today through Scripture, His Spirit, His people.

3.   Position Your Heart to Listen

Approach God with humility, faith, and a willingness to obey what He says. A surrendered heart is the best receiver.

  • Worship with expectation. God inhabits the praises of His people (Psalm 22:3).

  • Stay sensitive. He may whisper in a gentle nudge, a verse, or a picture in your spirit.

  • Be ready to respond. The goal is not just to hear, but to obey.

4.   Lean In During Worship

Worship is not just singing, it is tuning your spirit to God. As we worship, expect Him to speak through songs, impressions, or Scripture. Listen for His whispers in the melody, in the silence, in the atmosphere of His presence.

  • Ask: “Lord, what do You want to show me about Yourself today?”

  • Ask: “What are You saying to me? To us as a church?”

  • Write down any impressions, Scriptures, or burdens.

5.    Hear God For Others

God often speaks not only for our own encouragement but also to bless the body of Christ. You may carry the very word someone else needs today.

  • God often speaks not only to us but through us.

  • Be willing to encourage, pray, and release God’s word over others in love and humility.
