Week 6

Before His Face

Theme:
After exploring life’s vapor, the limits of wisdom, the gift of joy, and the reverence of worship, Ecclesiastes brings us to its final conclusion. The Teacher urges us to remember our Creator while we still have the strength and opportunity to do so. Life passes quickly, and the illusions of control eventually fade. Yet within that fragility lies a clear calling: live before the face of God with humility, gratitude, and obedience. The end of the matter is simple but profound, fear God and keep His commandments. This is a life of reverent trust, where our fleeting days are anchored in the One who holds eternity.

Opening Questions:

  • What stood out most from the Ecclesiastes Series?

  • What do you think makes a life truly meaningful?

Scripture Reading: Ecclesiastes 12:1–14

Read aloud slowly. Pause. Re-read.

Reflection Questions:

  • What currently shapes the direction of my life the most, ambition, comfort, responsibility, faith, or something else?

  • Is there an area where I know God’s will but have been slow to obey?

Group Discussion:

  • What images or phrases stand out most to you in this passage?

  • What does the “fear of the Lord” look like in practical terms?

  • What does “remembering my Creator” look like in the ordinary rhythm of the week?

  • If the “end of the matter” is to fear God and keep His commandments, what would it look like to move one step closer to that reality this week?

  • Looking back over this Ecclesiastes series, what truth has challenged or reshaped me the most?

Activation:

1. The Daily Remembrance

Each morning this week, pray: “Creator God, today belongs to You. Help me live wisely within the time You have given.”

2. The Perspective Practice

Write down three things that truly matter in the long run (relationships, faith, character, etc.). Compare them with how you spent your time this week.

3. The Step of Obedience

Ask God to reveal one area of obedience you have been postponing. Take a concrete step toward it.

Prayer:
Creator God, You hold our days in Your hands. Teach us to orient our lives around You while we have time. Free us from chasing what cannot satisfy. Help us receive life as a gift and walk in reverent obedience. May our fleeting days be anchored deeply in the awareness of Your Presence. Amen.
